The Dance Research Conference

Saturday 25 March 2006, 09:0018:00
Middlesex University

An annual conference for the promotion of work by dance scholars.

Currently, the UK has no regular, national or international dance conference for established scholars where the presentation of current research and work in progress can be made, regardless of subject matter or methodological discipline. The Dance Research Conference is designed to fill this gap. The Conference will be a forum for open dialogue across disciplines connected to the study of dance, enabling the discussion of current research with an enquiring audience.

  1. For scholars who are active in dance research and who feel that they are not New Scholars
  2. Thematically open
  3. Both papers and practical presentations welcome
  4. Both newly completed research and work in progress welcomed
  5. For researchers attached to institutions and for those who are working independently

Papers/research presentations on the conference programme draw on methodologies variously grounded in philosophical, analytical, historical and ethnographic perspectives. Genres to be considered across the conference include ballet, modern and contemporary dance, popular dance. Historical periods to be covered span medieval to postmodern.
