Join us in a discussion on Akram Khan Company’s XENOS on Monday 11th June with invited speaker Dr Royona Mitra and Dr Emma Hanna, a few days after the performances at Sadler’s Wells from 29th May to 9th June.
Biographies:
Dr Royona Mitra is the author of Akram Khan: Dancing New Interculturalism (Palgrave; 2015), which was awarded the 2017 de la Torre Bueno First Book Award awarded by Dance Studies Association (DSA) and the 2016 Runner-up for the New Career Research in Theatre/Performance Prize by Theatre & Performance Research Association (TaPRA). She is a Senior Lecturer in Theatre at Brunel University London and her scholarship examines intersectionalities between bodies, race, gender, sexuality and postcoloniality in performance.
Dr Emma Hanna is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of History at the University of Kent. She has published widely on First World War history including contemporary memory, memorialisation, the media and wartime culture. Her second monograph – on music and morale in the British Forces 1914-18 – will be published by Cambridge University Press in 2019.

The Choreographic Forum is an initiative aiming to support an exchange of thoughts on current dance and choreography. It is set up as a series of roundtable discussions, during which we reflect on a performance that we have watched together, in a theatre or elsewhere in London. We meet 2-3 times a year, and each session begins with short statements by invited speakers who then lead the discussion.
